The idea of sharing a learning experience. Comes from my work experience with brain injured individuals. I worked long hours during my college days assisting clients with their daily routines. It was eye opening, the many things that were accomplished by everyone in the center.
Activities of daily living and job placement are the basic needs meet during rehab. I wanted to create a enjoyable experience to help rehabilitation. After all once rehabilitation is complete depending on the level of disability a person can continue to enjoy a creative activity anytime. Whether someone has a brain injury, is born with a disability or has grown ill in time. Its important we have time to socialize, create things we enjoy, and be happy . Now that we are able to meet online and be safe from the pandemic. It a great opportunity to stay in contact and connect.
Choosing a project to work on is not always easy, but I like to make gifts for my loved ones during holidays.. or birthdays. I check the calendar when trying to decide on a beading project. For example in the video I posted - I completed a red bracelet for Valentine's Day!
I have a variety of materials, so sometimes I want to try new materials or ideas. These things facilitate my decision on what to make. I have selected beaded jewelry projects to simplify my process and stay in track of time. I have contemplated other beaded projects, such as beaded pictures, beaded figures, but favorite remains jewelry. 🤩
Beading requires relatively few tools and cost of beads vary depending on your preference. I enjoy spending time creating small tokens to share with others. I learned beading as a coping mechanism to deal with life's changing events. I was able to stay busy and not think negative thoughts. I used my excess energy to create beautiful handcrafted jewelry.
Beading allows me to take time for myself and create new jewelry pieces. I think beading like many other hobbies provide us a way to manage our unsettled energy. Other hobbies I enjoy is sewing, painting, and currently learning to make fast healthy food. More on that last one next time.
